Nostradamus has been credited with making a chillingly accurate prediction for 2026, and what follows could be horrific.

The 16th-century mystic is often credited with making a string of eerily accurate predictions over the last few centuries, and now another is being assigned to his legend.

Nostradamus, a French astrologer and physician, made numerous prophecies throughout his life, with his supporters regularly claiming that he has accurately predicted some of the most defining events in human history.

The Great Fire of London, the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and Hitler, respectively, both world wars, and the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are all credited to Nostradamus’ mystic visions from hundreds of years ago.

Nostradamus’ history of predictions

‘Les Prophéties,’ first published in 1555, is a collection of prophecies by Nostradamus (full name Michel de Nostredame) that contains hundreds of cryptic four-line poems known as quatrains.

Many of the quatrains deal with disasters, leading to Nostradamus being linked with accurate prophecies regarding future tragedies, from the death of Princess Diana in 1997 to the September 11 terrorist attacks, in 2001.

Critics have suggested that much of Nostradamus’ work paraphrases existing, popular end-of-the-world prophecies. By supplementing this with historical events and vague horoscopy, Nostradamus has managed to leave enough details up to interpretation that he has cultivated a cult following in the centuries that have followed his death.

Now, a YouTuber is attributing another major world event to the Frenchman.

Donovan Dread claims that several of Nostradamus’ passages reference an event very pertinent to the modern world. Dread also warns that further predictions related to the same event could be even more terrifying.

Current situation involving America

America’s present-day situation is one that is causing the most concern for people around the world. Every day, articles discussing a third world war and nuclear armageddon are published.

Talks of a first military draft in over 50 years have intensified in the last couple of weeks, with President Donald Trump’s administration refusing to take a draft off the table for the current military conflict with Iran.

Not only has Trump raised concerns with American citizens, the US President has clashed with fellow Republicans, opposition in the Democratic party and even NATO allies.

The US President has castigated the leaders of Spain and the UK for refusing to aid the current war in Iran, publicly chastizing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for not joining the war effort.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, meanwhile, has been vocally critical of Trump’s approach to the situation in Iran, drawing the ire of the American leader in the process.

Trump has responded to Sanchez’s criticisms of him by claiming the US will cease all trade with Spain. The President has since been told this would not be possible due to relationships and agreements within NATO.

America remains locked in a serious military campaign, alongside Israel, against Iran. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini was killed on the first day of strikes, although much of the Iranian regime has remained the same.

Trump and his administration have claimed the war will be over in a matter of weeks, although critics and military experts believe otherwise, due to the scale of the operation and retaliatory attacks from Iran drawing other countries around the Middle East into the conflict.

Nostradamus’ prediction

Donovan Dread claims that Nostradamus wrote several passages which relate to the current conflict in Iran.

The ‘Iran Prophecy’ sees Dread point to a verse which refers to ancient geographic names that relate to modern day Iran.

It reads, per the Mirror: “The great Saturn tiger of Hercania, gift presented to those of the ocean. A fleet chief will set out from Carmania. One who will take land at the Tyran Fosia.”

Dread explains in the video that Hyrcania, or ‘Hercania’ in some spellings, was an ancient region near the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. Carmania is an area along the southern coast of Iran.

The YouTuber says: These are words that mean nothing to a casual reader. But to anyone who knows ancient geography, every single word in this verse is a signpost pointing directly to Iran.”

Dread then further links Carmania to the present-day Strait of Hormuz, which has become a focal point in the current war.

Hormuz is a narrow shipping route between Iran and Oman. The closure of the Strait has had a huge effect on rising oil prices around the world.

Dread continues: “And that coastline he named was Carmania. It’s the southern shore of modern-day Iran, the very stretch of land that controls the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil supply flows every single day.”

A ‘fleet chief’ is mentioned in the texts, potentially signifying a military response or attack that originates from the region.

“Nostradamus wrote that a fleet chief would set out from Carmania,” Dread reveals, adding: “He wrote that this force would present a gift to those of the ocean.”

A gift of the ocean could be in reference to naval warfare. Trump has claimed over 50 Iranian warships have been sunk over the last three weeks.

Furthemore, the YouTuber also believes Nostradamus predicted the Ayatollah’s killing with the sentence: “In 1727, in October, the king of Persia shall be captured by those of Egypt.”

The data may be incorrect, but Dread dismisses these concerns by explaining: “What matters more than the date is the content. The king of Persia shall be captured.” Iran was known as Persia until the 20th century.

What comes next?

As if these predictions were not all brutally depressing enough, further quatrains are linked to a potential Iranian invasion of Europe and missile warfare across the skies.

“A burning torch will be seen in the sky at night near the end and the beginning of Rome. Famine, steel, the relief provided late. Persia turns to invade Macedonia,” reads one of the quatrains.

“If you were a 16th-century physician trying to describe a missile — a cruise missile, a ballistic missile, a hypersonic weapon streaking across the sky at night with trailing fire — what words would you use?” Dread asks. “A burning torch would be seen in the sky at night.

“He describes naval battles in the Persian Gulf where ships are melted and destroyed. He describes economic collapse triggered by the disruption of trade routes. He describes a conflict that spreads from the Middle East into Europe itself.”

Dread points out that the texts appear to describe a war escalating through ‘miscalculation’ rather than ‘strategy,’ saying: “A regional war that becomes a  world war not through grand strategy but through miscalculation, retaliation, and the cascading failures of diplomacy.”

Despite all this, Dread then signs off by saying, “The entire field of Nostradamus interpretation is built on ambiguity.”

So that’s alright, then.
