The former teen idol who inspired generations has passed, leaving behind memories of music, love, and heroism.

Bobby Sherman, the 1960s pop idol known for his chart-topping hits and television fame, died on June 24, 2025, at 81. His wife, Brigitte Poublon, shared the news in a personal message posted by actor John Stamos on Instagram.

Sherman had been battling stage 4 kidney cancer, a diagnosis Poublon disclosed in April during an interview with Fox News Digital. At the time, she said the cancer had “spread everywhere” and that he was “at home with special care.”

According to Poublon, Sherman remained mentally engaged in his final days, sharing quiet routines with her, such as doing crossword puzzles. However, his condition declined rapidly as his body began to shut down.

Though he formally retired in 2024, he continued to sign autographs until his health no longer allowed him to do so. In his final moments, he chose to be at home, surrounded by his family and their five dogs.

In her social media tribute, Poublon described his final moments as intimate and peaceful. “Bobby left this world holding my hand—just as he held up our life with love, courage, and unwavering grace through all 29 beautiful years of marriage,” she wrote.

She recalled reading letters from fans aloud to him, which he listened to with a familiar sparkle in his eyes. Despite his condition, his sense of humor endured, “He still found time to crack well-timed jokes,” she added.

After stepping back from the spotlight, Sherman dedicated his life to service. He became a paramedic and served as a technical reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. “He saved lives,” Poublon wrote. “He showed us what real heroism looks like—quiet, selfless, and deeply human.”

He is survived by Poublon, their two sons, Tyler and Christopher, and six grandchildren. Poublon described him as a man who “lived with integrity, gave without hesitation, and loved with his whole heart.”

In her closing words, she thanked his fans: “Thank you to every fan who ever sang along, who ever wrote a letter, who ever sent love his way. He felt it. Rest gently, my love.”

Sherman rose to stardom with hits such as “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” “Little Woman,” and “Easy Come, Easy Go.” He also gained widespread recognition for his role in the television series “Here Come the Brides.”

As the world remembers Sherman’s legacy, Poublon steps forward — not just as his wife, but as the driving force behind a mission they shared.

Known to longtime fans as Sherman’s second wife, Poublon has quietly built a name for herself in the nonprofit world. For years, she has led education and nutrition efforts for children in need, particularly in Africa.

Her public role took on new weight when she announced that Sherman had been diagnosed with cancer. The message, shared on social media, shocked fans who hadn’t seen the former teen idol in the spotlight for years.

Even before that moment, Poublon had already become a steady presence in Sherman’s life, not just as a partner but as the driving force behind his legacy of service.

A Philanthropist Beyond the Spotlight

Poublon has led a life of purpose, most notably as founder of the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation (BBSCF). Since 2011, the nonprofit has focused on supporting students in Ghana through education, nutrition, and music — a mission that closely reflects her values in her public efforts and everyday actions.

Her social media offers regular glimpses into those values: a deep love for the Los Angeles Rams and Dodgers, a soft spot for animals, and a visible dedication to her foundation’s work. It’s one of the places where her personal passions and public role align.
During a visit to Ghana in February 2025, Poublon partook in the foundation’s Community Food Project, sharing photos of herself distributing meals to schoolchildren. In one image, she crouched beside a group of children in uniform, handing out food with the help of local volunteers at a rural school.

In March, Poublon shared photos from a school trip with foundation students and staff at Aqua Safari Resort in Ghana. The day included a boat ride and a mini-safari, showing her continued hands-on involvement in the foundation’s activities.

Poublon also uses the foundation’s platform to share messages during holidays. In an Easter post, she highlighted her Christian faith by sharing a Bible verse and encouraging followers to “Rejoice in hope this Easter season.” The message reflected the same positive and faith-driven tone seen throughout the foundation’s outreach.

These glimpses into her daily work show how deeply invested she is — not only in the foundation’s mission but in shaping the meaningful life she and Sherman chose together.

A Life Shared with Bobby Sherman

According to Herbie J. Pilato’s book, “Dashing, Daring, and Debonair: TV’s Top Male Icons from the 50s, 60s, and 70s,” Poublon married Sherman in 2011. Though their marriage remained mostly out of the spotlight, glimpses of their personal life have occasionally surfaced, often joyful and warm.

In a 2018 Facebook Live Q&A, Sherman and Poublon appeared together at a kitchen counter, engaging with a group of curious children.

Sherman, dressed in a blue-and-white striped shirt, answered questions with his usual charm, sharing that his favorite childhood singer was Ricky Nelson and he preferred a hamburger over other options.

Poublon, wearing a sleeveless dress in bold red, white, and black, responded with warmth and enthusiasm. When asked about holidays, she cheerfully named Christmas her favorite, explaining that she loves to go all out with decorations, gift-giving, and baking — just as she does for other celebrations like Halloween.

In 2019, Poublon shared her excitement about a musical reunion of sorts. She announced that she and Sherman would be attending a Beach Boys concert featuring John Stamos at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California — a nod to Sherman’s early days performing on “Shindig!” alongside the legendary band.
