After swirling speculations about cosmetic work, Goldie Hawn’s glamorous new shoot turns sour as fans erupt over ‘disappointing’ fashion choice.
In a stunning yet controversial carousel of images posted on August 31, 2025, by Perfect Magazine and the legendary Goldie Hawn, the 79-year-old actress struck a series of whimsical, dreamy poses for the magazine’s ninth issue. But what began as a celebration of vintage glamor and joyful elegance quickly devolved into a fiery debate — over fur and filters.
Netizens couldn’t get enough of the Hollywood icon’s playful energy and radiant presence — at first. But behind the soft lighting and dazzling couture, many online viewers were left asking, Is that really Goldie? and Is she really wearing that?

Golden Girl or Filtered Fantasy in Fur? Stunning Shoot Causes a Flurry of Strong Reactions
Captured by celebrated photographer Yasmine Diba, the shoot radiated old-school elegance with a quirky twist. One image shows Hawn beaming on a sunlit porch, wearing her own pinstriped ensemble over a black top, framed by blooming flowers and pristine white columns.
Another shows her seated gracefully in front of a baroque fireplace, dressed in a glistening olive jumpsuit with a dramatic cape from New York Vintage Inc., and surrounded by tranquil garden statues and lush greenery.

The close-ups, meanwhile, honed in on every luxurious detail: a flowing kaftan by Dsquared2, a vintage bracelet, and plush jewel-toned pillows. The magazine cover — Hawn beside a lifelike cow statue, in a strapless black Norma Kamali gown, dripping in Gucci and Cartier jewels — hinted at the whimsical tone of the spread.
“Relaxing in her Californian home, Hollywood golden girl and doyenne of goofball talks to Perfect about the divine power of comedy, understanding the human brain, and her unrelenting love of cows. 🐮 ✨,” the caption reads.

‘God’s Work’: Goldie Hawn Shares a Powerful Quote, but One Image Ignites Instant Outrage
One slide quoted the star in bold pink letters, “Being funny? Making people laugh? Frankly, that’s God’s work. Right?” But the lighthearted tone took a sharp turn when fans saw Hawn draped in a brown, satin slip dress and wrapped in a voluminous Prada coat — a look that stunned some and infuriated others.

The backlash came swiftly. “I love Goldie but [sic] fur??? So disappointed 😢😢,” one fan lamented. Another echoed, “Is that real fur? How disappointing.” Critics piled on, with yet another observer penning, “So ashamed she has fur, terrible terrible. I thought better of her, I was so wrong [sic].” Someone else declared, “Picture [sic] is ruined with that fur coat.”

Too Smooth to Be True? Fans Cry Foul over Heavy Filters
Meanwhile, others were quick to point out what they saw as excessive editing, expressing that the photos appeared filtered. One person even stated that the heavy retouching made Hawn nearly unrecognizable. But defenders stepped in just as quickly.
“Goldie is a beautiful woman and a good person who does her best in life to enjoy it and also supports a lot of good causes that matter. The pictures are filtered but who cares she looks fabulous [sic]!” one supporter wrote. Another gushed, “You are phenomenal Goldie [sic]!! We love you!!!”
Was It Even Real Fur? The Truth Behind Prada’s Controversial Coat
As emotions ran high, many seemed unaware that the Prada coat in question may not have been real fur at all. In fact, the Italian fashion house publicly banned animal fur starting with its Spring/Summer 2020 women’s collection.
The brand announced its shift in May 2019, joining the International Fur Free Retailer Program in partnership with the Fur Free Alliance — a global coalition of animal protection organizations — to prioritize ethical fashion and innovation.
“The Prada Group is committed to innovation and social responsibility,” head designer Miuccia Prada stated at the time, adding that the ban allowed for creative freedom while meeting a growing demand for compassion in fashion.
Prada also shared that it would continue to sell certain materials that are by-products of the meat industry, such as sheepskin and calfskin, until quantities were exhausted, and animal fur is no longer part of their design ethos.
In that light, it’s likely that Hawn’s controversial coat was faux fur — a detail missed by many amid the frenzy. Still, the backlash highlights the intense scrutiny faced by celebrities, even those with decades of goodwill behind them.
