A new poll has revealed a significant change to Trump’s approval rating, while also giving insight into the favorite candidates for the 2028 presidential election.
The 47th POTUS has introduced a ton of changes since returning to the Oval Office – some being more controversial than others.
Trump has introduced countless executive orders and tariffs since being back in the White House, while he’s also had a very public bust-up with former best buddy Elon Musk.
The president even ordered the US military to fire missiles at three nuclear sites in Iran last weekend, while Iran retaliated by firing rockets at a US military base in Qatar.
Basically, it’s been turbulent since Trump returned as president, and as a result, his approval ratings have suffered.
A survey by the Emerson College Polling revealed that 45 percent of voters approve of Trump as president, while 46 percent disapprove and nine percent are unsure.
While the figures are close, Trump had a 49 percent approval back in January.

Meanwhile, 52 percent of those surveyed believe the US is ‘on the wrong track’ and 48 percent think the country is heading in the right direction under Trump.
While Trump may have only been in office for just over five months, attentions are already turning to the next presidential election in 2028.
A new Emerson College poll has detailed who the Democrats are favouring for their presidential candidate in three years time.
And it’s former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who has surpassed former vice president Kamala Harris in the poll as to who Democrats are preferring for the presidential run.

However, it’s worth noting nearly a quarter of respondents said they are undecided about who they would support next time out.
Nonetheless, 16 percent said they would cast their ballot for Buttigieg, while 13 stated they would support Harris, despite her defeat at the hands of Trump last November.
Buttigieg served as Joe Biden’s transportation secretary between 2021 and 2025, making him the first openly gay Cabinet secretary in US history.
For the Republicans, 46 percent support Vice President JD Vance, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio (12 percent) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (nine percent) would also receive support from Republicans.
Seventeen percent of those polled said they were ‘undecided’ on who they would vote as the Republican nominee.
Trump is of course not permitted to run for a third term under the US constitution.
